Information on Appeals, Objections, and Litigation Involving Fuel Reduction Activities, Fiscal Years 2006 through 2008

The GAO released a report evaluating the frequency of appeals and litigation regarding Forest Service fuel reduction project decisions.  The review covered the years 2006-2008 and included 1,415 decisions involving 10.5 million acres.  Read more(PDF)>>

Public Meetings on New USFS Planning Rule

WASHINGTON, Feb.24, 2010--USDA Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell today announced a series of events to provide opportunities for public discussion on the development of a new Forest Service Land and Resource Management Planning Rule (planning rule). Interior's FY2011 Budget

The Department of the Interior released its FY2011 budget.  The format includes review of major initiatives.  The Treasured Landscapes Initiative.  Included in the initiative is a $106 million increase in Lawcon funds.  The criteria for making the investments include an emphasis on landscape level conservation with emphasis on :

  1. Rivers, riparian areas , or waterboides.
  2. Land conservation for wildlife or its habitat.
